About

The University of Worcester is located in West Central England, Worcestershire. It was initially established as an Emergency Teacher Training College in 1946 after which the institution gained and implemented degree-awarding powers from the Privy Council in 1997. In 2005, University College Worcester was awarded full university status and adopted a new title, University of Worcester. The University has three main campus locations, namely St. John’s Campus, City Campus, and Severn Campus. The campuses are located very close to each other consisting of libraries, a sports arena, and other accessible facilities making it very convenient for the students to lead a purposeful academic life.

The University has over ten excellent academic schools such as the School of Allied Health and Community, School of Arts, School of Education, School of Humanities, School of Education, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Psychology, School of Science and the Environment, School of Sport and Exercise Science, Worcester Business School and Medical School. The University also has an international College associated with it, which supports international students achieve their academic and career prospects and dreams. With 10,800 students enrolled in it, the University is known to be one of the best and it has also been awarded a Silver rating by the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Students Services: 

the University of Worcester provides extensive support and services to its students which includes the following:

Library:

The University of Worcester has a centralized library that it calls The Hive Library where students go to read and explore the wide range of books and resources. With over a quarter of a million books and 12 miles of archive collections, the library is an outstanding space for group learning as well as for individuals who prefer studying by themselves. The Hive facilitates access to electronic information as well, including databases, e-journals and e-books. Further, The Hive has its own cafe where students go to relax and enjoy good food.

Arts and Culture:

The University has extensive specialist facilities for Arts on the campus, some of which includes The Art House, an innovative and experimental home in Worcester, The Garage, which functions as studios where students are taught, art classes. There is the Drama Studio containing all the facilities a performer and producer needs, with a seating capacity of over a hundred people. Even more impressive is the Digital Arts Centre that has been designed taking an amazing usage of light and space into its architecture. It also houses the sound recording studio, the sound editing room and the academic and technical teams.

Accommodation:

Accommodation facilities have been made easy for students' convenience. There are over a thousand single-occupancy rooms spread across the four campuses of the university, providing 24-hour security and emergency maintenance services. Students also have the option to choose off-campus accommodation as per preference. The four campuses include St. John's campus, City Campus, Severn Campus and The Lakeside Campus.

Sports Facilities:

For the sports enthusiasts, the St. John's Campus Sports Centre houses an excellent range of facilities which includes a six-court sports hall, dance studio, gymnasium and fully equipped fitness facilities. Similar facilities can also be availed at the Riverside Centre which including other facilities like the physical activity hall, social learning space, sports analysis lab and lecture theatre.

Medical Services:

Students can approach the University medical centre for any health-related issues whose services may be availed at any time.

Clubs and Societies:

The Worcester Students' Union serves as the bridging community for students to join and participate in the many other clubs and communities hosted by it. There is also the Sports Club where talented athletes and sportsperson join to compete with other university athletes.
