The University of Wolverhampton is a highly ranked, modern university founded in 1827. It is located on four campuses across West Midlands, Shropshire, and Staffordshire in England. Initially, the institution was established as a Tradesmen’s and Mechanics’ Institute which offered general classes along with scientific, technical, and commercial studies. By 1926, it developed into a Technical College, and in 1992 it was granted university status under the name of University of Wolverhampton. The University first began in 1851 as the School of Art after which it expanded offering courses in over three faculties: the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences; the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Students Services:

The University of Wolverhampton regularly updates its students with opportunities to further aid their growth and development, be it in earning extra money through part-time jobs while studying, or gain some course-related work experience. The University also provides an international placement service for students and provides students with adequate support for their academic needs.

Library:

The University has a Specialist Library Support for students to support their academic research. It provides for the following services: The Post Grad Lab and a postgraduate-only IT facility in the Harrison Library. There are also individual silent study rooms for personal space and privacy to study. Students may also avail of extended book loan periods and get access to other national academic libraries via the SCONUL Access Scheme. The library also provides full text, abstract and indexing services for your subject specialism and an inter-library loans service.

Arts and Culture:

The University of Wolverhampton has a dedicated Faculty of Arts which houses the Centre for Art, Design, Research and Experimentation, Centre for Creativity, History and Identity in the Performing Arts, Centre for Film, Media, Discourse and Culture and the Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research. This will enable interested students to engage in expanding their knowledge base in Arts and Culture.

Accommodation:

The University accommodates students in its top-class residence located on its four main campuses. The City Campus is located in the heart of the city of Wolverhampton and is equipped with bespoke facilities and outstanding buildings. Next to it is the Walsall Campus which houses the performing arts theatre, sports and education department. Then there is the Telford Innovation campus which is home to the school of engineering and other outstanding IT facilities and resources.

Sports Facilities: 

the University of Wolverhampton provides extensive facilities with regard to sports and fitness requirements of the students. The Walsall Sports Centre offers a wide range of facilities under its roof, like the #G football pitch, a sports hall, separate courts for badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball and football. There are also fitness suites and weight rooms and a six-lane 200m sprint track. On the other campus, the City Sports Centre provides additional facilities like the Five-a-side pitch, a Conditioning suite and a Plate Loaded and Free Weights suite.

Medical Services:

To look after the health and safety of its students and to give them immediate medical assistance, the University makes provision for first aid services and ambulance services. There is also the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team which provides remote assistance and counselling to students in need.

Clubs and Societies:

The University encourages students to join the City Choir, a new social group to sing for pleasure and wellbeing that meets weekly. There is also a monthly event called Lunchtime Walks in West Park, wherein students meet and walk to explore and appreciate nature. In addition, one can also join the Students’ Union, a comforting and welcoming space on campus offering advice and support, as well as opportunities to get involved in social and sporting activities.
