About

The University of West London dates back to 1860 when the Lady Byron School was founded. It later became known as Ealing College of Higher Education. The institute gained university status in 1922 and after 18 years it was renamed the University of West London. The University has two campus sites one in Ealing and the other in Brentford both connected by a ten-minute bus service. It has nine academic schools covering a range of subjects:

The University offers a number of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research courses for students to choose from. UWL has more than 11,000 students, 10% of which are international students. The University provides support and help to international students throughout their studies in matters like fees and funding, visa and immigration, housing, and many more.

Student Services:

The University of West London aims to create a friendly environment for students where each one is valued, acknowledged, supported, and encouraged to arrive at their true potential. There are a number of facilities available with learning spaces and equipped with the latest technology for the students to use. Support is also available to students regarding funding, scholarships, and many more issues. A peer mentoring service is available in the University for students to help, connect and share experiences with each other. The UWL library has a number of books, journals, and e-resources to help students with their studies. The University also encourages students to find part-time jobs while studying to earn money and boost their experience, paid jobs are available on campus via the UWL Talent Bank.

Accommodation:

The University of West London provides a number of accommodation options for students: Apart, Queen’s Court which is a modern home with large spaces for students to study or relax and all the necessary facilities, Student Village which is a collection of student houses and a few other options.

Medical Services:

Student Service relating to students’ health and well-being is available in the University to provide assistance on issues like mental health, counseling, physical illness, or learning disabilities.

Sports facilities:

The University has a number of sporting clubs that train regularly where students can be a part of activities such as cheerleading, rugby, basketball, and football. A Sports and Fitness Centre with gym equipment and fitness classes at the University’s St. Mary’s Road campus is open to students and staff.

Clubs:

A range of recreational societies like dance, music, and chess are present in the University for students to join. Each society organizes events and gatherings throughout the year providing a good opportunity for students to learn new skills and meet new people. Students may also create their own societies based on some interest.
