University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire is a public university located in one of the safest places in the UK - Gloucestershire, England. It is among the best in the UK with experienced lecturers who are committed to seeing their students succeed. The University offers about 100 undergraduate courses and 57 postgraduate courses under eight Schools.

The University originated in 1834 when it was an institution of Mechanics. It was merged with another institution of Mechanics six years later. In 1847, Reverend Francis Close established the Cheltenham Training College. After this, the incorporation of more schools and colleges of art, education, and technology started coming in over the years. From 1992, Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education was given the authority to give out awards for postgraduate degrees and six years later, to give out awards for research degrees as well. Finally, it got its university status and was renamed the University of Gloucestershire in the year 2001.

• Cornelia Parker, an English visual artist, is most popularly known for sculpturing and art installing work. She was elected and appointed as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire at the Royal Academy of Arts. She completed her MFA from Reading University and received honorary doctorates from the universities of Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Gloucestershire, and Manchester.
• Tony Cragg, a British sculptor whose early consisted of sculptures of found objects and discarded materials, floor and wall structures of gallery spaces, and arranging different fragments by their artificial colors to form larger images. During his career, he has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts Lettres, Shakespeare Prize, Piepenbrock Prize for Sculpture, Artist’s Medal of Honor Fellow of University of the Arts London, and more.
• Henry Bond, an English writer, photographer, and visual artist who had given a lot to theoretical psychoanalysis and forensics. He completed his doctoral studies and was made the Senior Lecturer in Photography at Kingston University.
• Chris Broad, a precedent English cricketer, and broadcaster who is currently working as an official in the sport. His children are also involved in cricket where his son is a fast bowler and his daughter is a performance analyst.

These facilities include a sports arena of international standards, conditioning suites, fitness labs, performance lab, physiology lab, sports therapy clinics, advanced pitch, sports hall, an environmental chamber, and fitness studio.

Clubs and Societies:

The university wants its students to be part of societies and sports clubs to boost their experience with a memorable time at the university and getting involved with other activities too. The students run the Students’ Union to represent themselves and ensure that they enjoy their university life. Many societies and clubs are available on campus for students to join based on their interests and passion.
