The University of East London has been providing education to students since 1898 and it was only in 1922 that it gained its University status. UEL has three campuses at Stratford, Docklands, and University Square Stratford which was recently opened in 2013. The University of East London offers a number of undergraduate, postgraduate, and short-term degree courses in various fields like law, social science, journalism, health, architecture, and many more.

The degree programs and courses are taught in one of the seven teaching schools:

  • Royal Docks School of Business and Law
  • School of Social Sciences
  • School of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering
  • School of Education and Communities
  • School of Health, Sport and Bioscience
  • School of Psychology
  • School of Arts and the Digital Industries
  • Graduate School.

The Graduate School provides assistance for postgraduate research and scholarly activities. Student services:

Students pursuing their studies at the University of East London have access to academic, personal, and peer support services. The University welcomes students from all backgrounds and all age groups and provides them with an education that will help them succeed in whichever field they want to find a job in. Student Support Hubs are available on the University campuses to help students with any issues from personal to financial matters. UEL also offers part-time work to students to help finance their studies or to gain valuable work experience.

Accommodation:

The University provides on-campus accommodation to its students with 24-hour security. There are about 1200 rooms available with all the necessary facilities and internet access. A free and regular bus service operates between the Docklands and Stratford campuses and there are also transport links to central London. The halls of residence are convenient, comfortable and give students the perfect opportunity to make new friends.

Medical services:

At the University of East London a lot of importance is given to the health and well-being of students. Students have access to the Wellbeing Service team which will deal with all kinds of illnesses including mental problems. The Disability and Dyslexia service of the University provides support to disabled students with learning difficulties.

Sports facilities:

UEL is one of the leading universities for sports in London with world-class sports facilities which are available to the students. The University’s Sportsdock has two multi-purpose indoor arenas, dance and aerobic studio, a sports therapy clinic, outdoor pitches, and many other facilities. In 2019 the University ranked 43rd in the British Universities and Colleges Sports league.

Clubs:

 The University’s Students’ Union has over 60 clubs and societies for students to be a part of, each of which fits into five categories- Academics and subjects; Religious; Hobbies, Interests, and Arts; International and cultural; Community, Fundraising and Campaigns Community. Joining a society gives students the opportunity to make new friends, try new activities and get involved in events.
