University of East Anglia

The University of East Anglia (UEA) is a Norwich-based, internationally renowned university that was established in 1963. It is a renowned public research university with a campus that provides students with outstanding academic, social and cultural opportunities.

The award-winning UEA campus, which is set in 130 acres of a beautiful estate on the western edge of Norwich, is undergoing a multi-million-pound renovation. With multiple campus facilities such as a career centre, a multi-faith centre, a counselling team, disabled facilities, IT and computer services, a library, a medical centre and more, the college finds itself a "mini-city."

Students also have access to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, which has international-standard facilities, as well as the biggest indoor sports centre at any university in the UK. The University Sportspark, the world-famous Sainsbury Centre, the iconic Ziggurats, The Square, a meeting spot and the INTO centre, which provides high-quality training for students, are among the other main facilities.

The University of East Anglia is part of the Norwich Research Park, which has one of Europe's largest concentrations of climate, health, and plant science researchers. The semester system of small-group teaching is attributed to the University of East Anglia.

Career Opportunities:

UEA provides a robust employer activities program that allows students to learn about various sectors and job positions, meet organizations and learn about their jobs, both on campus and through workplace visits. These sessions also assist students in honing their professional skills and planning their future careers. The University’s Mentoring Program connects students with mentors who may be alumnus, entrepreneurs, and accomplished professionals and provide them with various career opportunities that are important to their degrees and interests. To help students gain experience and find out what they want to do for a living, the university posts updates on work openings, internships, and volunteer opportunities at the career portal, MyCareerCentral. 

Students are also provided with the required resources and expertise to discover, create, launch, expand and scale their own company through programs of workshops and events, guidance from mentors, and access to funding.  

Success Rate:

91.2% of graduates are either employed or pursuing further education six months after graduating.

Student Service:

Students at UEA are told about their options and given opportunities to work closely with Schools and Academics across campus. Student employment, internships, placements, volunteer positions, graduate jobs, graduate schemes and opportunities to work abroad are all available at MyCareerCentral. Via the training, workshops, and interactions, students will also explore alternate career options and the realities of job progression while cultivating the attributes and endurance required to achieve their goals. Students will also receive honours from the University for participating in a variety of events, both academic and extracurricular. 

Accommodation:

All of its foreign undergraduate and postgraduate students including those with physical and sensory difficulties are promised housing. There are a variety of housing options available, including Hickling House, Barton House, Green Flats, Crome Court (for PG only) and several others. Students, including those with families, who choose to live off campus, can get information and advice from the University.

Medical Services:

UEA students have full access to Health Assured's Employee Assistance Programmes as well as Student Services assistance, ensuring that they have health and wellness support throughout the entire time at university. To ensure that all students receive the care they need, the Wellbeing team maintains strong ties with external providers and the NHS, including the University Medical Centre. 

Sports Facilities:

Students have access to a wide range of facilities at uea+sport, allowing them to accommodate the diverse range of sports and activities. Some of these include Sportspark-gym and swimming pool, and other facilities like an indoor climbing wall, an athletics track, a gymnastics centre, indoor and outdoor courts, and conference facilities, and classes ranging from dance aerobics and boxercise to yoga and pilates. There are also numerous sports clubs, ranging from football, rugby, and hockey to mountaineering, windsurfing, and ballet. UEA Sport also offers volunteer opportunities and scholarships for impressive athletes.

Library Service:

At UEA, students will have access to thousands of books, e-books, online and print journals, as well as special collections and archives. They will also have access to a variety of research spaces, including computer study spaces and specialist study spaces for taught or research postgraduate students.

Social Clubs:

There are more than 250 social clubs and societies where students can express their passions, learn new skills and meet new people. In addition to sports clubs, there is always something for everyone, whether it’s dancing, archery, rock-climbing or knitting.
