The foundation of the University of Dundee dates back to 1881 where the first college, the University College Dundee was made. The institution has always stood out since its initial years. Recruitment was mostly granted to young intellectual people who acknowledged the fact of technological improvement required to be able to engage with the modern competition. The plan for the University was to provide a complete range of subjects except for Divinity as they declared to not have any religious-related subjects in their educational system. After some very bounteous endowment to the University, the establishment of a mechanic institution and chemistry laboratory took place.

The University’s campus had a lot of changes during the 1960s as there were a lot of foundations for the Dentistry building, Bellmont halls, and the Tower Building. The most recent architectures were the buildings of Life Sciences, the Dalhousie, and the School of Computing.
