Queen’s University Belfast was founded in 1845 and was originally known as Queen’s College Belfast. The University is a member of the Russell Group of universities and it gained university status in 1908 making it one of the oldest universities in the UK. The main campus of the University is located in the south of Belfast city-centre. The Lanyon Building inaugurated in 1849 is located in the center of the campus and has been voted as one of the most beautiful university buildings in the world.

Academics at Queen’s University is divided into fifteen schools each falling under one of the three faculties headed by a Pro Vice-Chancellor, each offering a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses each focusing on a research-based curriculum.

Student Services:

Queen’s University Belfast offers a number of support services to help students and to look after their health, emotional wellbeing, education and future. Career and employability guidance is also provided to students to help them achieve their career goals. Visa and immigration advice, orientation programmes and support for international students is guaranteed by the University. A variety of facilities are available on campus including hi-tech laboratories, libraries, art studios and more.

Accommodation:

Queen’s University Belfast guarantees accommodation to international students, over 3400 rooms are available in and around the campus for lodging students. Accommodation is provided in a student-village called Elms Village as well as the Willow Walk accommodation.

Medical services:

The University’s Health Centre is an independent National Health medical practice providing medical services to students and staff. In case of any emergency, the centre has access to a duty doctor both in the morning and afternoon. Experienced and qualified counsellors are available to help students facing any kind of mental issues which might disturb their wellbeing.

Sports facilities:

A number of sports facilities are available on campus like fitness and training areas, swimming and diving pools, sports halls, squash courts, grass pitches, and more. There are about 50 sports clubs in the University which students can be a part of.

There are over 200 student-led clubs and societies in the University which students can be a part of based on their own preferences and interest like football, tennis, art, photography, singing, dance, etc. These provide students with the best opportunity to meet new people, explore their interests or develop new skills.
