About

Oxford Brookes University is a public research university located in Headington, Oxford, England. The university is proud of its employment-ready graduates, as it works hard to maintain the reputation of helping students achieve a deep knowledge of their expertise and gifts to make the best decisions in their careers.

The university started its origins as an art school in 1865, occupying only one room at the Taylor Institution in the city. After five years, a science school was integrated into which there was the availability of scientific and technical subjects. The Technical Instruction Committee took over the school in 1891 and renamed it the Oxford City Technical School. Almost 40 years later, the Vice-Principal position was offered to John Henry Brookes who worked towards bringing up the development of the institution, having a major objective of making education accessible to everyone. In 1949, the Technical School was shifted to Headington where the foundation stone of the University was laid six years later. It was in 1992 that the name of the University was changed from Oxford Polytechnic to Oxford Brookes University.

The university aims to expand its employability reputation for students to help them achieve successful careers in the future. The strategy it uses deals with working closely with all members of the university, the local community, and business partners. It aims to bring the new vision to life within the next 15 years. The brand of the University distinguishes it from other universities as it functions with the principle of being a modern and forward-looking University.
