Northumbria University was founded in 1880 and had its origin in the Rutherford College, and received University status in 1992. It is a research-intensive and business-focused University known globally for its academic excellence. Northumbria University has two campuses one in Newcastle and one in London, the City campus located in the center of Newcastle is divided into City Campus East and City Campus West. The University also has a campus on Coach Lane outside of Newcastle called the Coach Lane Campus. Northumbria University also has an international campus based in Amsterdam.
