Liverpool John Moores University was set up in 1823 as Liverpool Mechanics’ School of Arts and then converted into Liverpool Polytechnic, after which it received university status to become Liverpool John Moores University. The University is located in the North West of England.

It has three campuses, City Campus, Mount Pleasant Campus, and IM Marsh Campus. City Campus is located within the heart of Liverpool, a short walk away from the Central Library, the Walker Art Gallery, the World Museum, and St. George’s Hall. IM Marsh Campus is located at Aigburth, four miles south of the city center and close to Sefton Park, Lark Lane, and Otterspool Promenade. The campus has high-spec teaching rooms, labs, gyms, sports, and fitness equipment, playing fields, drama theatre, dance studios, practice kitchens, IT zones, library, café, and many social spaces.

Mount Pleasant Campus is located near the Anglican Cathedral and the Metropolitan Cathedral. It is famous for the John Lennon Art and Design Building, which had won an award from the Royal Institute of British Architects. It is home to many buildings like Aldham Robarts Library, Aquinas Building, Dean Walters Building, Egerton Court, Liverpool Science Park, Joe H Makin Drama Centre, and John Foster Building.

All three campuses of the University offer modern academic facilities with over 250-degree programs, thus making it one of the most advanced educational institutions in the country. Student Services:

Liverpool John Moores University offers student services through the Student Advice and Wellbeing department. It provides advice in areas ranging from accommodation, finance, counselling, care leavers and estranged students, academic advice, disability and mental health. 

Library:

The University has three library sites but students can also access online academic e-books, e-journals, databases, online tutorials, study guides and a weekly online programme of library and study skills sessions.

Arts and Culture:

Besides having their excellent arts and culture facilities like a design studio, modelling workshop, film studio, laboratories and courses, Liverpool John Moores University also has cultural partnerships with Tate, Homotopia, LightNight, Foundation of Art and Creative Technology and Liverpool Biennial.

Accommodation:

The University offers a ton of student housing options. Students can opt to live near the University campus as well as the Liverpool city centre. All the accommodation options are located near public transportation to make travel easy. Moreover, accommodations are equipped with great facilities like gyms, gaming lounges, and theatres.

Sports Facilities:

The University has a main sports hall which offers specialist training and provides facilities like netball courts, pitches, badminton and tennis courts, handball pitch, volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, climbing wall, changing rooms, fitness suites, gym, strength and conditioning studio, and astroturf. 

Medical Services:

The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals offer their medical services to students and staff of the university. It also provides placements for student doctors, nurses, dentists and allied health professionals. It is recognised as a centre of excellence in biomedical, clinical and health service research.

Clubs:

John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) heads clubs and societies and offers students the opportunity to become members of various clubs and societies throughout Liverpool. A few of the clubs and societies include their Dance Society, Climbing Club, Jets Cheerleading, Men’s Football, Handball, Netball, LJMU Nursing Society, JUSST, Tennis, LMJU Drama Society and the Christian Union.
