Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonia University is a public university located in Glasgow, Scotland. It is known for its professional industrial connections and for being one of the few universities offering work placements to its students. The University is now one of the largest universities in Scotland. It is made up of three schools of Health and Life Sciences, Business and Society, and Computing, Engineering, and Built Environment. There are also laboratories and renowned centers of excellence in these schools.

The University began in 1875 as the Glasgow School of Cookery. Thirty years later, the incorporation with the West End School of Cookery took place and formed the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science. After the 1970s, many establishments such as the Technology College came up and were merged with the others to incorporate into the present institution that the University is today.

• Kevin Bridges: a Scottish stand-up comedian who had his television series called “Kevin Bridges: What’s the story?” which was based on his routines doing comedy. He has also appeared in many other TV series and performs his stand-up routines in many gigs like clubs, festivals, and shows.
• Gregor Virant: a Slovenian politician and public servant who served as a Minister of Public Administration in Janez Jansa’s first government. He resigned from office and ran as a candidate of the Slovenian National Assembly of the Democratic Party but never joined the party as yet. However, after the party’s victory, he was made the head of the Ministry of Public Administration and later as the leader of the Slovenian National Assembly. He resigned as the party leader when the party received only 1.2% of the votes in the European Parliament election.
• Lesley Laird: a Scottish Labour Party politician who served as the Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party for 2 years and as a Member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath for 2 years. She resigned as the Deputy Leader after losing to an independent candidate.
• Rhona Martin: a British curler well-known for skipping the British women’s team at the Winter Olympics of 2002, where the team won the gold medal. He also skipped for the Scotland curling team at the European as well as the World Championships. Her Olympic gold medal was stolen in Dumfries along with other Olympic memorabilia in 2014.
