About

London South Bank University was formed in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic Institute after which it underwent several name changes until it was finally renamed London South Bank University in 2003. In 1922 it received University status and it was also the year when the University celebrated its centenary. The LSBU campus is situated in London city-center and has state of the art infrastructure and facilities. The University also has a smaller satellite campus in Havering, East London.

The London South Bank University has seven schools:

  • School of Arts and Creative Industries
  • School of Applied Sciences
  • School of Built Environment and Architecture
  • LSBU Business School
  • School of Engineering
  • School of Health and Social Care
  • School of Law and Social Sciences.

Each school offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and also apprenticeships, besides this, the University also has links with a number of international universities and businesses to facilitate student exchange and employment programs.

LSBU has over 18,000 students out of which almost 2000 are international students coming from over 130 countries around the world. The University offers support services to them, students, even before their arrival in London including airport collection of international students. Student Services:

London South Bank University offers support services to help student's academic and non-academic needs. LSBU also aims to improve the learning experience of its students by providing world-class services and facilities like film studios, libraries, laboratories, health, and social care services, and many more.

Accommodation:

LSBU offers accommodation services to its students which are affordable and convenient. The University has four residence halls all located in central London and has good transport links. There are about 1400 single occupancy bedrooms but Queen and Premium bedrooms are also available. The University prioritizes providing accommodation to first-year students and bedrooms which are adapted for disabled students are also available.

Medical services:

London South Bank University believes that it is important to look after the physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing of its students, and it tries to create a supportive space for them. Students have access to a confidential and interactive session with a Mental Health and Well-being Advisor, counselling services, medical aid and any other such service.

Sports facilities:

The LSBU Academy of Sport combines academic and non-academic functions by offering quality sports services. Facilities like gyms, fitness suites, personal training programs, and more are offered to students, staff, and the local community. The University also has a number of Sports Clubs with professional coaches for students to join and to take part in various competitions. Sports scholarships are also available for students who excel in any kind of sport.

The Students’ Union of LSBU is an organization run by the students, for the students in order to represent the entire student body. There are a number of societies in the University which are groups of students coming together because of common interest. All students are welcome to join any society or club based on their own interests and this gives them the perfect opportunity to meet new people, take part in events and learn new skills.
